We believe in Karma and the philosophy of "What goes around, comes around." In over 30 years that we've been in business we've gotten so much from the world; in experience, culture and good times. It's the least we can do to give a little bit back. In doing so, we've been active in some worthwhile things. We have extended our efforts to those less fortunate through our yearly Food Drive which donates up to 80% of the yearly requirement for North San Diego County Food Bank (30,000+ lbs in most years) helping families put food on their tables. Last year we began the "Gimme Shelter" luggage return program getting luggage in the hands of the homeless or those fleeing domestic violence. We also understand, as fellow travelers, that we must be good stewards of our own backyard. Ensuring we have a wilderness to travel to, we support the The Conservation Alliance, The Outdoor Industry Foundation, The Escondido Creek Conservancy, Outdoor Outreach and Friends of the River. Our travels have lead us to many parts of this world where we were welcomed as guests and treated with respect. And today more than ever, being a good host, neighbor and friend to the community is perhaps the best way we can ensure that "What goes around, comes around."
For over 30 years Eagle Creek has taken all that Mother Earth can give and given it right back. Durable luggage. Comfortable backpacks. Organized packing aids. And products that you need before you even know you need them. Every single, solitary one has a lifetime guarantee. A lifetime, we assume, that's spent in the hands of a curious and adventurous soul.
Making travel easier. It's a simple mission statement that has served us well over the years. We'd like to think we've made the last 30 years of adventure travel a little easier than the first few thousand.

Steve and Nona Barker have guided Eagle Creek, the inventor of the adventure travel gear category for over 30 years. Which is quite an accomplishment, unless of course, you compare it to what they do with the rest of their time.
Parents of three, longtime volunteer firefighters with the Elfin Forest / Harmony Grove Fire Department, board members of The Escondido Creek Conservancy, The Fire Advisory Board, and The Town Council - the Barker's are, to say the least civically involved. Additionally the Barker's are active hikers, sea kayakers, backcountry skiers and raise trekking llamas in their spare time. As CEO, Steve typically downplays his role, however ask any of his employees about him and accolades follow.
Longtime coworker, and Executive Vice President of Eagle Creek, Ricky Schlesinger comments "community involvement is a feedback thing for Steve. He is incredibly open, candid, casual, and committed to the outdoor ethic. Incredibly civic minded both he and Nona are volunteers and will drop everything to rescue a car crash victim or fight a fire." The Eagle Creek corporate culture has a distinct family feel and when asked about helping define the adventure travel Steve confides, "We didn't create the market, the consumer did. In the end, we've been tinkering with product ideas to make the travel experience just that much easier. And luckily our customers appreciate that simple notion."
As the company begins its fourth decade of developing travel gear, Steve has set his sights firmly on the future. "Global travel has become a birthright. This is a tremendous opportunity for Eagle Creek. We have an opportunity to take concepts from outdoor such as functionality and quality and introduce them to a much wider population of folks and enhance travel experiences for a whole new generation."

Born in Roslyn, Long Island, Ricky never imagined he'd be a long time southern Californian resident let alone working for the same company for over twenty-five years. In fact, he still doesn't see it that way. "I never saw myself as a So Cal kinda guy, but every year my job changes dramatically. So when people ask me what it is like to have the same job for 25 years, I answer - I haven't - it's always evolving and renewing my commitment and interest, " Schlesinger states.
With a broad grin and boisterous laugh, Schlesinger is comfy directing these dynamics of change as Eagle Creek is constantly evolving its product offering and communications to its dealers and consumers. "Travel is certainly high on our customers' list," says Schlesinger. "We hope to earn their trust by designing and offering products that are insightful to the travel process."
Ricky's leadership is natural, yet not in a General George S. Patton kind of way. Approachable and immediately friendly, Schlesinger has been the point person on building hybrid travel adventure products and has been recognized for his innate abilities with various awards such as the Outdoor Retailer Leadership Award and has been appointed the Chairman of the Travel Goods Association.
Providing travel solutions and looking for new ways to approach this burgeoning market segment is a natural for Ricky. Having driven a cab in Washington DC, played string bass in a bluegrass band, and studied photography, Schlesinger's talents and interests are as diverse as the cultures Eagle Creek consumers explore. "Many of our users perform in their chosen arena at a high level and appreciate the technical aspects and durability of our products. However, you don't have to climb 5.10 or paddle Class V to use Eagle Creek, " Schlesinger comments, "which is why we focus on building great product with general use applications."
Ricky embraces the future and continues to bring elements of personal interest into the professional realm, "being in the outdoor and travel business is lucky because it integrates our business, our lifestyle and our sports interest rather than selling light bulbs. It is personally rewarding. I still feel there is a great creative opportunity, and look forward to facing new challenges. "
